I’m Back

Greetings everyone,

The winter season is coming to an end and I cannot tell you how excited I am about the spring season. Not only will my birthday be at the start of spring, but I will be spending it in New Orleans, Louisiana. I’ve heard great things about that places and I couldn’t be happier celebrating my Birthday there.

The winter weather is not exactly over yet, and I know some of you are having trouble putting together outfit (especially living in a city where the weather changes drastically). Where I live, you will find people wearing a mix of winter and spring fashion in unison. My sister is a great example of what I’m talking about.

Partying in my Ugly Christmas Sweater

I don’t know about you all, but I am so excited for the Christmas season this year! There are so many eventful parties to look forward to. ”The Ugly Christmas Sweater Party” is one that I always look forward to because of all the silly sweaters everyone gets to wear. Over the years I’ve seen so many kinds and to me they look more creative than ugly. Well I guess it would be considered ugly if you wore it on a regular day, right?

Most people make their sweaters, but these days you can purchase them online, at a thrift store or at a local mall (filled with many department stores). The “Ugly Christmas Sweater” trend has changed so much that it’s okay to wear ugly Christmas shirt as well.

Believe it or not, they are just as cute as the sweaters and perfect for the individuals who live in warmer climates. Here are a few sweaters and shirts that I can see some of you rocking.

It’s always fun to decorate your sweater because that’s a part of enjoying the holiday spirit. But it’s understandable that some of us are limited with time.

Steve Madden @ Nordstrom

Steve Madden is a world renowned shoe designer who designs men and woman shoes (and has been doing it for over two decades now). I must say that I own a few pair of his designs and they are some of the most comfortable shoes I own. He recently came out with a new sleep wear line for woman and this is why he is on tour this fall.

I was fortunate to meet him, but I did not get the chance to interview him because time was limited. Everyone who attended the event got to take one picture with him (taken by the Nordstrom team).

Julissa from “Empire Girls” hosted the event and she did a great job of it! The line was long, but she entertained us enough to forget about that. Over all, the entire event was exciting, energetic and fun! They gave away a lot of shoes, but I guess my luck didn’t follow me that day. Maybe next time?

Gift bags were handed out to everyone who attended, and an item of your choice was signed by Steve. I also snapped a picture of boots that caught my eye as I was waiting in line (If you like any of them you can find them at a Nordstrom near you).

YOLO POLO

This weekend was nice and relaxing. I had some time to spare which means I caught up on the upcoming events in my city for the next couple of months. I can’t wait to see what each event will inspire to write next.

It doesn’t get cold in Houston much, but when it does Houstonians take advantage of it. We even overdo it sometimes. For example, you might see woman wearing boots if there’s a chill in the air. What can I say? You must know if the forecast consists of the words “cool, cold or cold front” were taking advantage of it!

As much as I love woman’s fashion I give much credit to men’s fashion as well. They don’t have as many options as woman, but they definitely have a lot to work with. I’m sure you can agree that a typical men’s pant or tee today is not the same as it was in decades ago.

For example, the Ralph Lauren Polo has been one of the signature looks in men’s fashion for many decades. Of course there’s nothing like original Polo, but designers of the 20th century have taken it to the next level including Ralph Lauren. Other brands offer polo tee-shirt as well.

This basic black tee also has the enlarged symbol with a number or the right shoulder sleeve.

You don’t always have to ware the bold colored polo’s underneath your sweater.

This may be a little bright for some of you, but keep your options open. You’ll never know how good it will look until you try it on. I am a firm believer in that.

Here is long sleeve polo. This one is a fall must have.

One thing I’ve noticed is the fits of the polo’s. Men shouldn’t have a problem finding a good fit with any of the brands that I mention. With that being said, challenge yourself and try some of the new Polo tee styles that are up to date.

FALL in with Royalty

Tomorrow marks the first day of fall. The weather is beautiful and I can definitely say it has impacted most of our moods for the better. If you know me, you know I crave fall fashion. This season I’m all about royal blue, and I can’t get enough of it. What can I say, it looks great on everyone!

It may be because of its class and elegance? I’m sure princess Kate would agree don’t you think?

Ippolita Meet and Greet at Saks Fifth Avenue

Yesterday I attended the Ippolita Meet and Greet at Saks Fifth Avenue (Galleria Houston). Ippolita is on tour sharing her Fall and Winter 2012 collection this season.

If you haven’t heard of the “Ippolita collection of Iconic Jewelry,” be very happy that I am introducing it today. Let me start off by staying that I was VERY impressed with the different jewelry pieces that caught my eye at yesterdays meet and greet. I found it very hard to choose a particular piece that stood out to me. After picking out one I called my favorite, another piece caught my eye!

Besides the look of extravagant pieces, the comfortable fit was the second thing I noticed. Know that Ippolita’s jewelry is handmade and made to fit comfortably.

Her assistant was nice enough to show me around and tell me about the different jewelry (you can purchase at Saks Fifth Avenue. I snapped a few pictures of some that caught my full attention. Here are some of the pieces that would be a great addition to your fall and winter outfits this season.
